- As a result
of the high development existing in all
engineering fields in the U.A.E., the
local Engineers, who constitute an integral
part of the elites, realize their responsibly
to participate in such movement and form
a professional assembly which includes
the engineers and technicians of the U.A.E.
- Consequently,
the founders started their meetings to
study the best concepts & means to
form a strong & effective Engineers
society taking in consideration the experience
of sister society in the GCC countries.
- The founders
formulate a provisional administrative
committee to prepare the articles of association
and to follow up the procedures of registration
of the society at the Ministry of labor
& Social affairs, thereafter the Minister
of labor issued the Ministerial Decree
No. 331 1979 on 3/04/1979 approving the
registration of the UAE society of Engineers.
- In 1984
the society joined the Arab Engineers
Federation & in 1985 joined the world
engineering federation.
- The society
is representing the state in the international
meetings of he Arab & world engineering
Federation.
- The society
also participated in the formation of
the Gulf Engineering form together with
the sister associations in the Gulf Countries,
which conducted annually to support &
develop the Engineering works as well
as the profession it self.
- The society
also supported the issuance of national
engineering consultants in co operation
with the ministry of public works &
housing which resulted in the issuance
of the Ministerial Decree No. 245/7 of
1983 regarding supporting of national
Engineering consultants firms to realize
the following:-
- Transfer
of engineering concepts & experience
to the nationals.
- Formation
of national cadre for planning &
executing future developments in the
state.
- Keep &
promote national resources.
The society and
in co operation with the Ministry of the
Public Works and the General Secretariat
of Municipalities prepared the law &
regulations for practicing of Engineering
profession in the state of UAE.
The Society received the following awards:-
- Sharjah
Charity Awards -2003, this as a result
of the distinctive efforts made which
participates very much in setting the
pillars of voluntary work in the U.A.E.
- Recognizing
of ISO - 9000 as the first engineering
society acquiring the ISO certificate
in 2004
- Letter
of Gratitude from H.E. Mattar Humaid Al
Tayer the Minister of the Ministry of
labor and Social Affairs in 1997 &
1999 which was towards the distinctive
participation made in voluntary works
& service provided to the community
of UAE
- Also the
UAE society of engineers participated
fully locally by laws issued by the municipality
in Dubai, Sharjah & Ajman regarding
the organization of practicing Engineering
consultancy work in those Emirates.
- The society
signed many cultural protocols with U.A.E.
University, American University of Sharjah,
Abu Dhabi Municipality, Dubai Municipality
& Al Ain Municipality.
- The society
set the system for examining the technical
consultant team who super vise the schemes
related to Abu Dhabi municipality.
- The society
prepared many of the important Engineering
document such as the agreement between
the owner & the consultant office
as well as the unified engineering contract.
- In fact
board of directors of the society conducted
scientific forums , training programs,
lectures & conferences which considered
as positive asset to the attendees.
- The society
also published the world of engineering
magazine, in addition to other publication
such as:-
- UAE engineering
consultants offices directory.
- Importers
& manufacturer of decoration material
directory.
- Building
materials importers directory.
- Gulf
engineering consultants offices data
base
- The membership
is increasing very much between 1982-2004.
In 1982 the membership was 105 member,
in 1983 increase by 43 member where as
it's exceeding 10.000 members. The following
chart shows the development in membership
during the last 22 years.
