  • The previous chart shows that the total number of member s of the society during 1983 to 2004 are approaching 10899, the following graphic chart shows the distribution of membership in category :-

  • The previous chart shows the working members( local Engineers) are 760 (7%) ,Expatriates members 9549 (87%) , registered members (technicians, interior designers, surveyors) 520 (5%) , student member (student of colleges of Engineering) 70 members (1%).

  • In Summary:
  • the percentage of those who are holding Engineering qualifications is 17%
  • Number of Engineers working in the UAE is 42000( 39000 male Engineer 3000 female Engineer)
  • Number of holders of Engineering qualifications and not practicing =13000 33%
  • Number of Practicing Engineers = 28643 (67%)
  • Number of local Engineers = 1290 (4.5%)
  • Number of expatriate Engineers = 27353 (95.5%)
  • The following chart shows the percentage of the registered engineers with the UAE society against the total number of Engineers working in the UAE.

  • The chart shows that 75 % of the engineers working in the U.A.E (32000 Engineers) are not registered members in the society where as the percentage of the registered members is only 25 % ( 10899 Engineers) The reason for this difference is due the delay of law issuance for engineering practicing profession in the U.A.E.
  • During the last 25 years, the activities of the society developed very rapidly, in which the society of engineers issued the first world of engineering magazine in 1982, and in 1983, the society organized the first training course for the Engineers of the Ministry of Public works & Housing, and in 1984 the society participated in the meeting of the Arab Engineers Federation consequently the activities increased as well as the participant & beneficiaries & the following charts show the development and increase of participant in the activities conducted by the society between 1990 to 2004.

Also, the society looks after and cares an issuance of the consultant directory in the UAE, now the society already issued 4 editions , this issue is the fifth one, the following chart shows number of consultants offices in the UAE, distributed as follows:

  • The total number of activities conducted by the society in the last fourteen years is 459 activity, the annual average of the activities is 33 activity (such as scientific lectures, training courses, workshops, scientific forums , engineering exhibitions, internal & external participations) in words 3 activities per month.

  • The total number of participants in the society's activities from the local & expatriate engineers is 18000 participations, about 110 participations per month, average of participations in each function is about 39 participations

  • Also, the society looks after and cares an issuance of the consultant directory in the UAE, now the society already issued 4 editions , this issue is the fifth one, the following chart shows number of consultants offices in the UAE, distributed as follows:-

  • The society has three office in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
  • The society enjoyed the gift of H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohd Al Qasimi , the member of the high council, the ruler of Sharjah, who granted the society office at the building of the charity organization at Al Qasba canal, Sharjah. Also it worth mentioning that the Dubai government granted the society a plot of land in Al Memzar area, Dubai. The society is looking forward to build this land to be it's permanent office. Also the society is planning to open offices in the all UAE Emirates, so as to enable all engineers to make use of the programs & activities organized by the society and now the society is about to opening office in Fujairah & Al Ain as well.
